Who we are?
New Hope Church was officially formed on January 15, 1956, under the name of Ebenezer Reformed Church. The Ebenezer community was formed by 20 families made of new Dutch immigrants in the Village of Cooksville, now called the City of Mississauga. On January 1, 2018, the name was changed to New Hope Reformed Church of Mississauga after the merger of the congregations of Ebenezer Reformed Church and New Alliance Church of Mississauga.
The Church
-
We are a multi-ethnic missional church aligned with the reformed tradition, called by God, to preach the gospel, and committed to welcoming, gathering, teaching, and disciple so that individuals and society may find hearing, transforming, and love through God’s grace the Word.
-
We strive to be a visible, inviting, welcoming community that is able to encourage individuals, strengthen relationships, bring change, creating a sense of belonging that enables unity, healing, and guidance in an exciting, creative, and Christ-centered way.
-
As Christians, we believe that “... if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17. This means that it is the Holy Spirit operates this transformation in our lives, and God is restoring his image in us, as Paul explains, “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18. We are a church that is not made by perfect people but by sinners who are being transformed by the grace of God and His Word.
-
The Protestant Reformation that swept Europe in 1517 created a branch in Christianity called “Protestantism” and the formation of different protestant branches such as Reformed, Presbyterian, Huguenots, and Puritans. The Protestant Reformation reaffirmed the certainty and assurance that we are saved by faith and that we live by faith entrusted with the grace of God and the sacrifice of Jesus. This sacrifice paid for our sins, absolved us from the eternal damnation and wrath of the Lord, and redeemed us completely. Therefore, the people of God live by faith and not by the things that are seen.
Being aligned with the Reformed tradition also means that we affirm specific statements of belief called Creeds and Confessions and Standards of Unity. These beliefs and standards of unity help us to be faithful to the Scriptures. However, it is also essential to understand that the Spirit of Reformation is also summarized by the motto: “Reformed Church always reforming”. It means that besides keeping our beliefs, Creeds, and Standard of Unity, we also need to find means to communicate God’s Word to contemporary society.

Pastor Jose Garreton
Greetings and welcome!
I'm Rev. Jose Garreton, and I am thrilled to extend an invitation to you to join us at New Hope Reformed Church.
Here, we're more than just a community; we're a family walking together in faith and service. At New Hope, everyone is welcome to explore a personal relationship with God, rather than simply practicing religion.
With a background in engineering and project management, I've followed a deep calling to ministry—a journey marked by God's guiding hand. Starting with a church plant in Rexdale/Malton, I've witnessed lives transformed through faith.
As the senior Pastor of New Hope Reformed Church today, I continue to lead with a passion for spiritual growth and community impact. Personally, I find joy in studying subjects like history, calculus, astronomy, theology, and counseling, and I love gathering with friends for a barbecue.
So please, come and join us! Discover a place where you can grow spiritually, find family, receive support, and make a meaningful difference in our community. Together, let's embark on a journey of faith and fellowship. Welcome to New Hope Reformed Church!
What People Are Saying
“NewHope was my first and is the only church that I have attended since I came to Canada 18 years ago. Right from the beginning they received me and my wife with open arms and now they have become my family”
